Obtaining a Driving Licence C+E
The most comprehensive HGV license is the C+E. This license permits you to drive an HGV equipped with trailers or semi-trailers weighing more than 750 kilograms.

Requirements
A driving license is a legal document that proves that a driver has fulfilled the legal requirements for driving. The next step is obtaining the Category C license, also known as a the driver's license for cars. This permits you to drive trailers, passenger vehicles and trucks with a maximum weight of 7.5 tons. In order to get a Category C license you must be 21 years old. Exams
To be able to obtain your license, you need to pass a written test and a driving exam. The written test is comprised of 20 questions and you need to answer at minimum 14 of them correctly. The oral and written exams are designed to be as close to the real world as is possible. Examiners are able to deny your license in certain situations. These include: if you were driving erratically during the test and/or involved in a crash; or if you violated any traffic laws, rules or regulations; or in the event that your vehicle was unsafe. In these situations you'll have to retake the test and pay additional fees.
Medical exam
In order to be able drive a truck in the EU, one must undergo an examination for medical reasons. The SDLA will be required to include contact information for the ME who performed the medical examination on the driver's records, to further discourage fraud. This requirement will be in effect until FMCSA issues new rules to deal with this issue. In the meantime, motor carriers can continue to maintain the original or a copy the medical examiner's certificate in their driver qualification records to prove that a driver is medically qualified in the event that the driver can prove that it received the certificate from the ME.
